In-Person Divorce Mediation in Massachusetts (Face-to-Face Family Mediation)

Some families prefer to meet face-to-face when working through a divorce or family conflict. While virtual mediation has become increasingly common since the pandemic, in-person divorce mediation in Massachusetts remains an important option for those who feel more comfortable sitting together in the same room.

We offer in-person mediation in Massachusetts depending on geography and availability.

In-person divorce mediation sessions are currently available in the following Greater Boston locations:

  • Wellesley (MetroWest Boston)
  • Needham (MetroWest/Route 128 Corridor)
  • Natick (MetroWest / Mass Pike (I-90) corridor)
  • Braintree (South Shore)
  • Burlington (Route 128 / I-95 corridor)

Additional locations may be available in the future and upon request.

Why choose in-person family mediation?

Conducting divorce and family mediation in-person helps families in a range of circumstances, such as when there is:

  • A mediation with lots of participants
  • Discomfort with technology
  • Limited access to reliable internet
  • A personal preference for face-to-face communication
  • A desire to meet the mediator in-person
  • A way to have more privacy than mediating online from home or work
  • Some families simply feel it is easier to have difficult conversations when everyone is sitting together in the same room

Are there downsides to in-person mediation?

In-person divorce and family mediation can require additional scheduling coordination and travel time, depending on your locations and conference room availability. If the requested location is more than a 30-minute drive for the mediator, an additional fee may apply. Virtual mediation can make it easier to schedule shorter or more frequent meetings. For these reasons, some families choose a hybrid approach that includes both virtual and in-person sessions.

We are pleased to offer both options to best meet your preferences.
