During marital mediation, I can help you deal with specific problems, improve your communication with one another, and facilitate decision-making.
Marital mediation is different than counseling because unlike therapy, mediation does not address mental health diagnoses, establish a treatment plan, and spend a lot of time revisiting the past.
Marital mediation helps you overcome difficulties in your marriage without having to delve in to the past and open up old wounds. Sometimes marital mediation helps couples determine if they want to stay married–and what they need for that to be successful. Other times the process provides clarity for couples that collaborative separation might be the best path forward.
There are times when couple’s mediation leads to a written agreement that could be an informal summary or a formal postnuptial agreement.
